A Creator-Producer and Founder of Blue Magic Films, Amir has over 18 years of experience in conceptualizing, setting up, executing and delivering top quality film, television and web products for international clients as well as Indian broadcast networks.

He began his career making international documentaries while assisting acclaimed filmmaker Kabir Khan. The first film he edited ‘Taliban Years and Beyond’ went on to grab eyeballs and acclaim world over (Cork Film festival, 2002, Ireland; Mumbai International Film Festival, 2004) and was telecast on the Discovery Channel. Quickly followed by another award winner – ‘Titanic Sinks in Kabul’ (International Sasa Award 2003, Italy; V FICA Film festival, Brazil – 2003, FIKE 2003 – Evora International Short Film Festival, Portugal). Simultaneously, he also gained recognition as a DOP with ‘Lunch on the Run’ (Palm Beach International Film Festival in Florida) among other international films. He was in the core creation, direction and content team for ‘Jihad-The Sword of Islam’ (an international film shot in six countries) and Cyber Diaspora (telecast on Discovery).

In 2005, he went to Kabul to work in the direction team of the award winning and critically acclaimed Yash Raj film ‘Kabul Express’.

By 2007, Amir was heading the Mumbai facility of the premiere production house ‘Moving Picture Company’. Here, he helped conceptualize and set up more than 12 original television shows, scripted as well as unscripted, for various leading Indian networks including Sony, Zee, Star and Viacom 18.

In 2009, he founded Blue Magic Films, a dynamic boutique end-to-end production house that specializes in creating Original Shows and Properties across categories. With a strong belief in empowering young teams to handcraft novel, intelligent and new age programming, he led the company to organically win over a wide clientele ranging from premium broadcasters like Discovery, TLC, Viacom 18, Sony Pictures and brands like AirBnB, Cadburys, Red Bull, Playboy, Vodafone among many others.

With his trademark quirky humor, sharp sensibilities and an eye out for future trends, Amir is always trying something new and showing us how it’s done.

Co-founder and Creative Head of Blue Magic Films, Amardeep’s creatives spell simplicity and freshness with strengths ranging from minute detailing to overarching narratives. Travel, Food, People, Cultures and Counter-Cultures, are only a few of the many things that echo her interests.

After acquiring degrees in Literature and Video production, Amardeep came to Mumbai in 2001, to work in the core content creation and direction team of acclaimed filmmaker Kabir Khan. During this tenure, she gained high-caliber documentary experience as an associate director as well as a director on films for some of the best Indian and international clients – Tele Productions International USA, World Bank, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Himaal Association to name a few.

This was followed by a yearlong stint in Yash Raj, where she worked as the first assistant director in the award winning feature film ‘Kabul Express’

In 2006, she was co-heading the Mumbai division of ‘Moving Picture Company’ as the Chief Creative Director. Here she wrote and directed many successful factual entertainment products for leading broadcast Networks - from international documentaries, to investigative docudramas, biographical shows, travel & lifestyle properties, and tourism advertisements.

But everyone said her best work was still ahead of her. So, she co-founded Blue Magic Films where she has been consistently crafting intelligent, successful, award winning, original programming for Television and Digital Media in the Youth and Lifestyle genres for the last 8 years.

Amardeep is visually driven and likes all properties she creates and/or spearheads to have an arresting quality. And now her deepest passion surfaces in BMF’s branch of Original Productions where her creativity continues to thrive in unconventional and clutter-free narratives.
